Update: 2020-07-25
Description
This is part 1 of 2 of our interview with Christel Marie-Martin, a Catholic Convert! She shares with us how she journeyed from being an Evangelical Protestant to being a Catholic. Listen to find out more :) (p.s. this podcast episode’s cover art is a photo of Christel hanging up a picture of Our Lady at her still-Protestant parents’ house - her father was looking on in seeming exasperation)
0:00 - 04:32
Introducing Christel
04:33 - 19:02
Christel details her life as a Protestant and shares some Catholic moments when she was a Protestant.
For instance, when she was young, Christel wanted a mother like Mother Mary.
At age 16, Christel realised that we are pilgrims on Earth and we should not find true happiness in temporal events on Earth
At age 17, Christel had the first brush with death when her friend passed away. This led her to meditate on death (memento mori) and think about the most important things in life.
After her A-levels, she felt a sense of emptiness in her life and she was saved by an image of the Tabernacle where God was physically present, which she later realised can be found in the Catholic Church
19:03 - 21:30
The beauty and meaning of the Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession)
21:30 - 22:41
Ending Comments and Prayer
