Israeli authorities have identified the remains of two captives returned by Hamas overnight as part of phase one of the ceasefire deal. They've been named as 38-year-old Tamir Adar and 85-year-old Arie Zalmanovich. The bodies, collected by the Red Cross in southern Gaza Strip, were transferred to Israeli forces late on Tuesday. The US vice president says Israel's ceasefire with Hamas is “going better than expected”. JD Vance is in Israel along with Special envoy Steve Witkoff and Senior Advisor Jared Kushner. At a press briefing at a new US civil-military coordination centre in southern Israel, they spoke about phase two of the ceasefire. That deals with how Gaza is governed and rebuilt, and the disarmament of Hamas. The center is meant to monitor and support the Gaza ceasefire and coordinate aid. Earlier, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner met some of the families of Israeli captives released by Hamas last week. Phase one of the ceasefire deal requires Hamas to hand over 13 more bodies to Israel.
