Israeli settlers have set fire to a mosque in the Palestinian village of Deir Istiya in the occupied West Bank. The village sits in Area C, where several Israeli settlements and outposts have been built. Area C is under complete Israeli administrative and military control yet it covers more than 60 percent of the Palestinian territory. Palestinian authorities say settlers have carried out around 700 arson attacks since October 2023. The UN warns that settler violence has reached unprecedented levels, averaging eight attacks a day.
