At the end of China's cultural revolution, a young girl in Shanghai played her first notes on an oversized, secondhand violin. Today, Yuan-Qing Yu is an international award-winning violinist, Adjunct Professor at Northwestern University, and Assistant Concertmaster of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
