Jacob Stevens Part 2: A Journey Through Running
Description
Ultra runner Jacob Stevens joins us for part two of our multi-part series with Jacob. Jacob most recently competed in the Sangre de Cristo 200 Miler finishing in first place in 86 hours. Jacob grew up rough in Louisiana and battled sexual abuse for much of his childhood. Fast forward through adulthood, he found himself swimming at the D1 collegiate level, only to face a new battle later on; drug and alcohol substance abuse.
Jacob discovered running while he was attending and working at Men's First Step Recovery in Oklahoma City, OK and began exploring the trails of Stanley Draper Lake. This kicked off Jacob's journey through ultra running, and we dive into that story in this episode.
You can follow Jacob's journey on instagram @ultrarunnertx. Jacob is also an active writer, contributing to Ultra Runner Magazine, Human Potential Running Series, and MixedMartialArts.com. You can also pick up a copy of his book Afterthoughts & Hand Grenades here. Jacob resides in Dalhart, Texas with his wife Michele.
The conversation will pick up next time with a conversations on Jacob's upcoming fundraiser for The Move for Mind Foundation, which officially launches on Giving Tuesday, December 1.
