Specializing in bioinspired medical innovation, Dr. Karp leads a research lab focused on harnessing lessons from nature. His lab’s technologies have led to the formation of thirteen companies, with notable innovations including tissue glue for sealing holes in a beating heart, targeted therapies for osteoarthritis and Crohn’s disease, smart needles, a nasal spray that neutralizes pathogens, and immunotherapy approaches for cancer.
Raised in rural Canada, he developed 'Life Ignition Tools' (LIT) to overcome learning differences, detailed in his book "LIT: Life Ignition Tools." These tools were cultivated through his life's laboratory, encompassing his personal experiences and challenges. Initially developed to survive, Dr. Karp evolved these tools to help himself and others thrive. Dr. Karp is also Head of Innovation at Geoversity, Nature’s University, a rainforest bio-leadership training conservancy located in one of the top biodiversity hotspots in the world.
