In this episode from Chapters 4 and 5 of Joshua we summed up the process Joshua went thru before he was ready to start possessing the land. 1. He receives encouragement from God. 2. He tells the people to prepare themselves. 3. He made sure his army was ready. 4. He sent out 2 spies secretly to confirm what he already knew (the Canaanites were afraid of them). 5. He crossed the Jordan miraculously. 6. He gathered 12 stones from the Jordan River for a memorial. 7. He circumcised the new generation. 8. He celebrated the Passover. 9. He talked to the Commander of God’s army. All of the above prepared him for the battle of Jericho. If we want to be prepared for the major battles awaiting us, we will also need to do everything God tells us to do. To be victorious, Joshua also had to believe what God said about him. Do we believe what God says about us? If God said it we should believe it.
