Description

In episode 42, Karen Hurd and I chat about all things peri-menopause. I have been educating myself rabidly for the past 5 years in anticipation of this transition. I wanted to plan, prepare, and mentally grow into this space that I would soon inhabit and live in for the rest of my days. I also wanted to take responsibility for this transition and make changes to maintain health and wellness through a ( potentially) turbulent time. I loved every minute of this chat with my mentor of 11+ years. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Karen Has been practicing for 30 years. In addition to her nutritional training, Karen holds her Master of Science in Biochemistry and is currently enrolled at The George Washington University in the Master of Public Health program. Her philosophy in approaching health is that "Food has the power to kill; Food has the power to heal. It's your choice." Karen applies her knowledge at the biomolecular level to understand the cause of the health problems we face and what dietary and lifestyle changes are needed to correct that cause and unlock our best health.

Thank you for such a great, informational episode. I am left feeling a tad confused about the "exercise isn't a good idea" thought though. This is such a controversial topic.... keep active, weight training is good for women going through menopause etc. What is the right answer? I guess it depends on the person and what feels right for you??
