The Princess of Wales became Colonel of the Irish Guards last year and should have taken their salute at the warm-up event for Trooping the Colour.
Instead, as she continues her cancer treatment, she sent a message ahead of their big day.
Kate also missed the society wedding of the year as the Duke of Grosvenor married Olivia Henson at Chester Cathedral last Friday.
