She has a Masters in Nursing since 1995 and she has been a Registered Nurse for 25 years. She worked as a staff midwife at Baylor College of Medicine for 4 years.

She started a Midwifery service at a small community hospital for 6 years. She started a free-standing Midwifery service at North Houston Birth Center in 2005.
