Kitchen Disco BLOG + PODCAST
Description
Welcome to another episode of A Touch Of Pink, your one-stop shop for rainbow pop. As usual, all tracks tonight have rainbow content …. and a touch of glitter. Tune in this Saturday on JOY 94.9 from 5-6 pm for a whole heap (as many as we can get through in an hour) of tracks. Your host will be Dick.
This weeks featured image is of the new Sophie Ellis-Bextor CD Songs From The Kitchen Disco due out in September (I know!). It will be a greatest hits compilation featuring one new track and a few (?) covers. We’ve tried to get a tracklist to no avail, so will just have to wait until something leaks. In the meantime we have this gorgeous (?) cover to drool over.
13 all new/recent tracks tonight, and another poptastic collection of fun from our rainbow family of artists from all around the world.

Interesting Things To Do
Yesterday we watched a production of Carousel from Lincoln Centre New York. It had basic sets but a full orchestra, much like the Production Company shows, but the cast and orchestra were both excellent, and this is a show that doesn’t get revived often (though I did see a spectacular production on Broadway in 2018). It’s a fairly dark musical, but there are some great songs such as If I Loved You, June Is Busting Out All Over and You’ll Never Walk Alone. It’s available on Youtube.
Today we watched the National Theatre Live production of Amadeus. Truly demented and truly amazing, it was at once annoying and uncomfortable and then transcendent and uplifting. Not for everybody, because my husband and a close friend both gave up on it, but I was amply rewarded by a little perseverance. The performances by the lead actors were all wonderful, and full credit to the orchestra and chorus for performances mainly on the go. Can’t wait to see what next weeks theatrical gem will be. Check youtube on Thursday.
Song Of The Week: Piece A Vivre / Peaceful Afternoon by Rufus Wainwright. Yes the A-list power gay has finally brought out a new album. And in any opinion it’s really good, up to his gold standards, and apparently finishes of the song cycle from his first self-titled CD to this one, Unfollow The Rules. On the album there is the English version, and on deluxe version, with 2 extra tracks, also available as a double A-Side with the French version and the track Haine. Songs for the lockdown …
