Award-winning filmmaker Kore-eda Hirokazu is set to direct a live-action adaptation of the popular manga Look Back, expected in late 2026. Kore-eda discovered the manga in a bookstore and was instantly drawn to its creators passion, comparing it to his own work. The original manga, created by Fujimoto Tatsuki, has sold millions of copies worldwide. The animated version of Look Back, released in 2024, was a massive success, topping the Japanese box office for two weeks and earning nearly $13 million. Kore-eda also has another film, Sheep in the Box, scheduled for an early summer 2026 release.
