Netflix Boosts Southeast Asian Storytelling: New Partnerships, Initiatives, and GrowthNetflix is significantly increasing its investment in Southeast Asian storytelling, announcing new initiatives at Indonesias Jogja-Netpac Asian Film Festival. The streaming giant has partnered with APROFI, the Indonesian Producers Association, for a two-year collaboration, and launched its Creative Asia program in the region. This move highlights Netflixs commitment to nurturing local talent and production, as global viewing hours for Southeast Asian content have jumped by nearly fifty percent from 2023 to 2024. In 2025 alone, more than forty regional titles made it into Netflixs Global Top Ten. The partnership with APROFI aims to strengthen Indonesias production industry, offering workshops, on-the-job training, and industry discussions. Netflix also introduced Indonesias first national guidebook for production safety. Irene Umar, Indonesias vice minister of creative economy, welcomed these initiatives, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between the film industry, associations, and key players like Netflix and APROFI.
