Recently Alex Kurtzman sat down with the Hollywood Reporter to talk about Star Trek and gave us some insights into the Picard show that is scheduled to premiere in 2019.
The prevailing understanding is that this show is going to create a bridge between the Kelvin Universe and the Prime universe in which it is set.  The Fall and destruction of the Romulan Empire which led to Spock traveling back in time will play a prominent role in this show, but don't worry its not going to be just a Fan Service Cash Grab, before signing off on it Patrick Stewart told the writers that it had to be the Picard that people knew but also something that nobody expected.
