LIM RADIO S10E39 Sympathy Empathy Compassion Like It Matters
Description
Today, on Like It Matters Radio, Mr. Black wants listeners to consider three words: Sympathy, Empathy and Compassion. These three words are on a continuum of emotional involvement. These three words are progression, a building up to the point of doing something to ease the pain. Sympathy is recognizing someone’s suffering and feeling sorry for them. Empathy is ‘walking a mile’ in someone else’s shoes and feeling what they feel. Compassion is empathy with a desire to help or make things right. Where are you on the spectrum? In an America that wants us to focus on the differences, do you have pity, have understanding, or take action to ease others’ pain? Sympathy is the first step it opens the heart. Empathy builds bridges- it connects us to others’ pain. Compassion transforms- it moves from guilt and pity to growth and help. This is what Jesus said when He said, ‘When I was in prison you visited me, when I was hungry you gave me something to eat, and when I was thirsty you gave me drink.” On today’s hour of Power Mr. Black is going to stir up some compassion for those less fortunate than ourselves, with a primary focus on people behind bars! Inspiration, Education and Application are on the menu for listeners to todays Radio Show.
