Description
WELL! How about this for coincidence -- Today is July 1, 2018 and this audio clip of The Larry Glick was originally broadcast 40 years ago today, July 1, 1978. To commemorate this, we will post everything we have of Larry's show from July 1, 1978 (2 parts) Please enjoy!
Larry Glick WBZ July 1, 1978 (Pt1)
A short network news story regarding radio/tv propagation and sunspots (45 seconds).
Larry takes a call from Paul, a first time caller (round of applause). Paul speaks of a good friend of his who turned into an alcoholic. Paul admits he is probably an alcoholic also. His friend died and wound up in a plowed snow drift and wasn't discovered for for quite a while. Paul is a hairdresser, which prompts Larry to make a comment about how Paul sounds. What proceeds to happen is an extended bleep of the conversation (about 18 seconds) when Larry returns, Paul is gone from the conversation.
Larry plays Spike Jones and The Hawaiian War Chant for Joe.
We return with Larry in conversation with someone in the studio named Lincoln Carl (sp?)
Commercials.
Time check, “Four minutes before Two”. Next is John, a first time caller (round of applause) from Seekonk, Ma. John asks Larry what nationality he is. Larry answers “an American” and proceeds to have some fun with the question. Larry and John gets on the well traveled subject of Nazis in America. Larry gets started with his disgust of Nazis. Then it is time for AP Radio network news at 2 a.m. (which includes a segment of the recent murder of actor Bob Crane). Larry reads the weather and dates the program Saturday July 1st (1978). Ace Glick reads the sports scores. Editorial.
