Last night, Bafana Bafana made history by qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup to be held in Canada, Mexico and the USA. This is the first time South Africa's men senior team will make an appearance at the football showpiece in 24 years. Our last qualification to the global tournament was for the 2002 edition of the FIFA World Cup in South Korea. As one may remember, South Africa automatically qualified for the 2010 FIFA World Cup as hosts. Despite the heartbreak of narrowly missing the 2022 edition of the FIFA World Cup in Qatar, our national team has turned it around with a stellar FIFA qualification campaign and consistent performances.
