This episode,The Road to Qamishli: Chasing Law in a Time of Counter-Terrorism features Professor Fionnuala Ni Aolain, former UN Special Rapporteur on Counter-Terrorism and Human Rights (2017-2023) sharing excerpts from her forthcoming book that draws on her work during her UN mandate, with a particular focus on the conflict in Syria, and the counter-terrorism practices of state and non-state actors in North East Syria and their human rights consequences. The presentation will particularly draw on her visit to north east Syria in the Summer of 2023 and her observations and experiences in this conflict zone.
