🇬🇧Lesbos - The lesbian story of Eressos, with Tzeli Hadjidimitriou.
Tzeli Hadjidimitriou was born in Mytilene, on the Greek island of Lesbos, north of the Aegean Sea. She arrived in the small village of Eressos in the early 1980’s, along with hundreds of lesbians from all over the world, and rediscovered Sappho's birthplace.
An Artist photographer, a writer and a specialist in Sappho's poetry and Lesbos history, Tzeli Hadjidimitriou is a renowned Greek filmmaker who has won awards at multiple international festivals.
Over the course of ten years, Tzeli Hadjidimitriou has filmed more than 130 interviews constituting one of the most important archives of the lesbian history of Eressos, and is currently preparing a documentary film entitled "Lesvia, The Herstory of Eressos", to be
released in 2022.
She tells us about the early lesbian community of Eressos, the relationship between locals and lesbians and how they learned to coexist in the same spaces.

Tzeli Hadjidimitriou collected sounds of the waves in the Aegean Sea as well as sounds of the cicadas.
