Leah Hardeman and Why Representation Matters: LOVB in Paris
Description
LOVB Austin Volleyball outside hitter Leah Hardeman relives and relishes in the amazing Olympic semifinal between the U.S. and Brazil. After recovering from the match, she and host Tiffany Oshinsky discuss Leah’s introduction to volleyball and the importance of being in a predominantly Black club during her development as an athlete and as a Black woman. That experience growing up has inspired Leah to share those lessons and that love of volleyball herself as a coach and role model. Topics include:
- Initial reactions to USA/Brazil
- In-match adjustments and responses
- That fifth set mentality
- Game planning for Italy
- Watching LOVB teammates (and foes) in the Olympics
- Why Black representation in volleyball matters
- Being a role model for young athletes
- How volleyball keeps growing
- Goals for the upcoming LOVB season
