Leftwing Political Projects Are Not Friendship Circles

Recently, we've noticed an unhelpful trend: namely, people coming to left-wing and progressive political movements not primarily with the aim of changing society, but with the goal of making new friends. As a result, this phenomenon combined with the internal culture the left has created over the decades has allowed socially insufferable, stunted, and destructive people to dominate left social circles. The left's insistence on 'inclusion' often means including people in our movements who turn off the very people we need: poor and working-class folks.
