Let’s get you a Graduate Job in Publishing
Description
To celebrate #workinpublishing week, we are finding out how you can get a graduate job in the publishing industry.
In this episode, we catch up with Jemma Murat who graduated back in 2007. Jemma now has her dream job at Mills and Boon, however, it wasn’t always an easy journey for her. This inspirational story will strike a chord with any student who has found that they don’t have enough experience to get experience! In the first part of the show, Jemma talks about how she gained the necessary skills despite not having any office experience when she first graduated and gives us an insight of what it is really like to work in the industry.
We also found out what parts of Jemma’s story helped recent graduate Jameela Chowdhury, who has kindly shared her experience of finding a job in a pandemic. Jameela also tells us what she’s working on to upskill to improve her chances of getting a job in publishing.
Finally, we are also joined by networking guru Angharad Llewellyn – founder of theflexnetwork.co.uk – who is going to give you some great ways to safely connect and network with people who can inspire and uplift you.
If you have found any part of this episode helpful or inspirational, we need to ask you a favour!
