Levels of prayer
Description
Prayer is sweet though for many believers, it is a struggle. It takes tarrying to get out of the flesh, the longer you stay the deeper you get. Prayer begins from a place of discipline, to dedication and finally to a place of desire where you delight in it. The Holy Spirit is the one that makes you enjoy prayer.
Reasons why we pray in the Holy Spirit:
- We are speaking mysteries (1 Corinthians 14:2)
- We are speaking to God, not to men (1 Corinthians 14:2)
- We do not know how to pray (Romans 8:26 )
- We build our inner man/edify ourselves (Jude 1:20 ; 1 Corinthians 14:4)
- It is the highest form of spiritual warfare (Ephesians 6:18 )
- It is a sign that you are a believer
The more you pray in the Spirit the more your inner man grows.
Speaking in tongues is not a measure of spiritual growth, because someone who has just received salvation can speak in tongues and some who are so carnal still speak in tongues. It is the fruit of the Holy Spirit that shows how the mark of the cross has worked in someone's life.
The devil is not scared of people who speak in tongues but those whom the Holy Spirit has done a work in their lives.
The bible says, without love; you can speak in tongues and be like a sounding gong however you can pray in tongues, and as you open your mouth fire and arrows come out of you. When you pray in the human tongue your prayer becomes even more effective when you let the Holy Spirit direct you.
The Bible says, being filled with the Holy Spirit so the filling is supposed to be continuous. Just as on the day of Pentecost may you have a fresh experience of the Holy Spirit.
