The CME feeder cattle index for December sixteenth showed a slight increase, and the December Cattle on Feed report is expected to show a decrease in November placements and marketings. USDA Wholesale Boxed Beef prices were higher, though the gap between Choice and Select beef narrowed. The USDA estimated federally inspected cattle slaughter at one hundred eighteen thousand head on Wednesday, indicating a continued slowdown in slaughter numbers.
