Live cattle futures ended lower on Christmas Eve, with most contracts dropping by $1.30 to $1.50. Cash trade picked up before the holiday, with sales ranging from $229 to $230, steady to $2 higher than last week. The Fed Cattle Exchange saw 827 head out of 1734 offered, mostly at those levels. Feeder cattle futures showed a mixed bag, with January up a dime and later months dipping slightly. Cold storage data showed a decrease in beef inventory, and boxed beef prices slid.
