Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike were both on target as the Reds booked their place in the next round of the competition despite a below par showing against the Saints.

A top performance from Federico Chiesa, an assured debut from Giovanni Leoni that was sadly marred by what looks like a serious injury, a first Liverpool goal for Isak and arguably the stupidest sending off in club history.
