Fun Fantasy Read for Tweens, Teens, and Adults
I got this book in the mail on Monday morning and by Monday evening I had finished it. And now, on Wednesday, my 12 year old is halfway through. It is engaging enough for an adult, but simple enough for a tween. I love the way this book jumps from past to present tense and I love how it ties into the first book but can also be read as a stand-alone story. I so much appreciate that it is free of bad language and other adult content and can be shared with my kiddos.
"Luke Coles and the Forest Assassin" is a delightful combination of fantasy, science fiction, romance, adventure, and mythology. It reads as a collection of inter-woven short stories spanning several centuries and a half-dozen countries, all without losing historical integrity. Its pages are filled with adventures as experienced by the crew of the legendary ghost ship Caleuche and shared from the perspective of is newest member, a magic mimic who exists to save earth and humanity from the evils that would seek to destroy them.
In spite of a few typographical errors, this book has earned a place on my shelf among my favorites. It is definitely worth the read.

Couldn't put the book down!
Josh Walker has outdone himself in this next book in the Luke Coles book series. The story hooks you right from the start, and once again you are thrown into the beautiful setting and rich culture of Chiloe Island, where Luke returns during modern times, as he embarks on a new adventure! I was pleasantly surprised by a wonderful plot twist at the start of the book (not going to spoil it for you all!) This book is a great read, and I was unable to put it down! Now I'm anxiously waiting for the next one!

Great second volume of the series. Amazing terror book.
"Luke Coles and the Forest Assassin" by Josh Walker is the second book of the series "Luke Coles".
The first book ("Luke Coles and the Flower of Chiloé") was an amazing book, an introduction to the characters full of action and paranormal creatures. The second book even exceeds it.
The plot already starts with a race and a discovery. Flashbacks and different narrators place the reader slowly into every scene. We find out a bit more about the past of the characters. Walker answers some unresponded questions and makes you remember little details of the first book.
We face new creatures, learn more tradition and mythology and fall more in love with the characters.
