MAJOR UPDATE - A New Procedure For Citizenship by Descent On The Horizon
Description
A major update for Italian citizenship by descent (jure sanguinis) has been approved by the Italian Chamber of Deputies, moving one step closer to becoming law. The bill would create a central office in Rome within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to handle all Italian citizenship applications from adults residing abroad, replacing the current system managed by Italian consulates. If passed by the Senate, applicants would need to mail their original documents directly to the new office in Italy, with limits on how many cases can be accepted each year. These changes could reshape the process, affect waiting times, and lead to more court petitions for recognition. In this episode of the Italian Citizenship Podcast hosted by Italian attorney Marco Permunian and dual citizen expat podcaster Rafael Di Furia, we’ll learn more about how this new bill could redefine the path to Italian dual citizenship by descent. For help with the Italian citizenship process and more information about Italian Citizenship Assistance visit ICA's website:https://ItalianCitizenshipAssistance.comTo contact Italian Attorney Marco Permunian and his team of dual-citizenship experts and attorneys you can use the contact form on the Italian Citizenship Assistance website:https://italiancitizenshipassistance.com/contact/To see more from Rafael Di Furia about life in Italy and life as a dual-citizen expat check out his YouTube channel and website:Http://YouTube.com/RafaelDiFuriaHttp://RafaelDiFuria.com#italiancitizenship #italiandualcitizenship #dualcitizenshipTopics & Timestamps:0:00 – Intro & Opening Thoughts0:37 - Discussions on the new law proposal5:27 - How would the process look like in the future?6:40 - What about applications in Italy?11:01 - What about the minor age issues?11:59 - Closing Thoughts & Outro
