So what is like to get married during global pandemic?

It’s fun. It’s intimate. It’s all about the two of you and your love. It’s all about your commitment to each other. It’s beautiful.

From the photographer’s point of view these weddings are so cool. We finally have almost unlimited time for bride and grooms portraits, freedom to create whatever we like, there is no chance that we miss a photo of any of your key guests, there is time for almost everything.

However I really wanted to know what is like to get married during pandemic from the couple perspective?

I’ve been fortunate enough to shoot some beautiful micro weddings this year. The original weddings plans were completely different for all of those couples despite the tough social distancing restrictions they’ve decided to get married this year. Why?

I decided to ask them a few questions to find out.

1. What was your original wedding plan?

We planned a country wedding for 120 guests at a hall in Salisbury, followed by a knees-up at my parents house.

2. Why have you decided to get married this year?

We decided we were fed up of the uncertainty and just wanted to get married to each other and get on with the rest of our lives! The more we thought about it, the more realised that we could still have an amazing day, even if it's not what we originally planned. We always wanted to get married surrounded by as may family and friends as we could - which we did - it was just a lot fewer than we thought originally!

3. Tell me about your micro wedding?

We got married at a country house in Dorset and still had the knees up at Harriet's parents house with 30 guests. We had immediate family and the wedding party and managed to keep most of our original suppliers. It was a magical day - I think everyone was really up for a party!

4. What was the biggest challenge organising your small wedding?

The biggest challenge was constantly having to change our plans - the worst moment was having to uninvited our friends. But as each part fell back into place, we felt more and more encouraged to carry on. And actually, planning for a smaller wedding allowed us to try things we couldn't have done before, and took a lot of stress off the logistics of the day.

5. What was your favourite moment of the day?

Seeing our friends and family in tears after we did our vows! Because we had a smaller wedding party, we were able to have our guests sat around us in a circle, so everyone felt more involved in the ceremony itself.

6. Are you still planning to have a bigger wedding celebration in the future?

When we can plan something definite, we are going to have a vow renewal with all our friends.

7. What would you say to other couples who are still unsure if they want to have a micro wedding?

Just do it! The intimacy of a small wedding means everyone feels very involved and you can spend quality time with all your guests on the day. It was the best day of our lives, because we were surrounded by the love of our nearest and dearest.

1. What was your original wedding plan?

It should have been a church wedding ceremony at Tollard Royal and then reception at Larmer Tree Gardens,, 90+ guests (coming from not only across the UK but also Amercia, N.Ireland, Sweden and Australia), a jazz band, reception drinks and canapés, a DJ, a 3 course wedding breakfast, lots of flowers and bespoke dresses and suits!

2. Why have you decided to get married this year?

We decided early on when lockdown happened that if we could still go ahead and get married on our original August date, we definitely would. We wanted to try and go ahead so we were officially married - as we didn’t know when we would be able to go ahead with our original plans the focus b
