I’ve mentioned that I’m not actually a trained designer although I’ve done a ton of projects with my husband. And I stage all my listing in my real estate work. You get a professional designer to render you out two fully designed versions of your room. They have three different price points depending on your needs.

I went for the premium package which basically gave me two options. When you log in to create your profile, they have a #design​ / style questionnaire with visuals as well where they help to understand your taste and preferences.

You’ll need to stand at every corner of your room, along with the center of every wall, and take a photo, leaving the furniture you plan on keeping. And within about a week, you get your designs back.

What’s so great is that you can swap out pieces or view alternatives in your designs so you still have control over what ends up in there. And you’re not obligated to buy anything through their portal. So you can even shop for it yourself on different platforms to find the budget that works for you.

I also had a few specific items I wanted to be placed like my vintage desk and because of the smaller size of my office, I wanted floating shelves to make it feel more spacious.

The other thing that speaks to my own design style and sensibility is what I call #IntentionalDesign​. So it was super helpful for me to see the wall art behind my desk (another request I had) because I like to use design intentionally as reminders to help keep me on target to achieve my goals and dreams as well as lift my mood. So, for example, the images behind my real-life desk are all symbols of goals I have or mood-lifting finds I've come across in my travels.

But having MODSY create the layout of the art was so super helpful. That would have been a brain crunch and taken a chunk of time to figure out.

Another big one for me was the scale. I had an idea of the chairs I wanted in this space and I was getting ready to drop some cash on them but with the size of my desk, the MODSY designs made me realize I needed taller, more narrow chairs to feel right in the space as well as be able to open my door!
