Making Horror Happen: Talking The Dead Thing with Elric Kane
Description
For our final episode of season one, we invite our first ~token man~ onto the show! We think everyone will benefit from Elric Kane's candid advice and experience in the film industry. Elric is the Director of ‘The Dead Thing’ an indie horror feature film which premiered at the Fantasia Film Festival in 2024 and was released on IFC/ SHUDDER in 2025. Kane co-produced the 2024 film ‘No more Time’ for director Dalila Droege and was an Associate producer on the SXSW film ‘The Frontier.’
He is an active voice in the film podcasting world with his PURE CINEMA podcast -- the official podcast of Quentin Tarantino’s New Beverly Cinema & COLORS OF THE DARK, the Official podcast for the long running Horror magazine FANGORIA.
Prior to his work in America, Kane co-directed Indie features in New Zealand including MURMURS & KISSY KISSY that played at the New Zealand International Film Festival.
Elric was also the Chair of Film and Digital Content at the Studio School / Hussian College for 6 years and has an MFA in Filmmaking from SCAD.
