Description

A Rose Hill man, Joseph Schroer, has been sentenced to four years of probation and sixty days in jail for his role in a child abuse and fraud case involving his adopted daughter, Kennedy Jean Schroer. Kennedys body was found buried in the backyard, and its believed she died in late 2020. Schroer pleaded no contest to aggravated child endangerment and Medicaid fraud, accepting payments for Kennedy after her death. His wife, Crystina Schroer, attempted suicide, leading to the discovery of Kennedys body. New evidence suggests Kennedy died in a cardboard box in December 2020, with her sister witnessing the incident. Crystina Schroer claimed Kennedy was sent to a psychiatric facility, but investigators found a pattern of abuse, including starvation and physical punishments. Joseph Schroers probation includes a ban on contact with children and repayment of over $13,000 to the state of Kansas and Medicaid.
