A man, Gordon L. Pierce the Third, has been sentenced to prison and ordered to pay restitution for stealing and destroying a historic Spanish-American War cannon in Wichita, Kansas. Pierce claimed he stole the cannon to pay off a drug debt, but his actions resulted in the loss of a significant piece of history and a centerpiece of the Spanish-American War Memorial at Central Riverside Park.
