In Spokane, Washington, Michael Y. Feland, a 41-year-old man, was sentenced to 73 months in prison for a serious felony assault charge involving strangulation. The incident occurred in August when Feland, who had known the victim for several months, gained entry to her vehicle and strangled her with a cord, causing her to lose consciousness. Judge Jacquelyn High-Edward considered Felands history and the severity of the crime, also imposing an 18-month community custody and a 10-year no-contact order.
