Description

This half hour video was broadcast on TV Ontario (Canadian Public Television) in 2004, as the first of a 13-part series dealing with mythology and neuroscience. It is based on the book, Maps of Meaning: The Architecture of Belief.Theme: The rise of rationality and the scientific method posed a significant challenge to the religious worldview, but in its place rose ideological systems of true horror, led by resentful and arrogant tyrants such as Mao Tse-Tung, Stalin and Hitler. The demolition of traditional theories of morality thus opened the floodgates for pathological replacements of unforeseeable rigidity and cruelty.
