Mark Champkins,Inventor in Residence at the Science Museum in London, and a former British Inventor of the Year talks to the IfM about how his career has developed from a love of making things as a child to establishing his own company. After studying manufacturing engineering at the IfM he went on to study industrial design engineering at the Royal College of Art. He provides a fascinating glimpse behind the scenes of TV programme Dragons Den where he gained £100,000 in 2007 to set up his company.
