Starting January 5th, Market Street in Bury town centre will be closed to traffic for five months due to a £6 million active travel overhaul. This includes new cycle lanes and improved crossing signals. The closure will occur in phases, with access remaining open to key locations. This is part of phase two of the Fishpool and Pimhole Bee Active travel scheme, aiming to upgrade junctions and encourage healthier, greener trips. Meanwhile, the Albert Street junction on Rochdale Road will permanently close for footpath widening.
