Description
#013 Meet the Brand - Champion Pet Foods with Lauren Hoines
IMPORTANT UPDATE: Champion Pet Foods has been acquired by Mars Petcare. Mars will be taking control of the company in Q1 or Q2. Once the acquisition has been completed, I can no longer endorse this brand and will be removing the products from our store shelves.
Do you ever wonder how your favourite brands got started, or are you curious to learn more about them and what they do?
Those of you familiar with my background know that I’ve been involved in the pet industry for over 15 years. In that time, I’ve been introduced to a lot of different people and brands and I realized that that puts me in a unique position to interview some of your favourite companies in an effort to teach you a little more about them.
So, enter the brand new, “Meet the Brand” segment of the podcast!
For this inaugural episode, I’d like to introduce you to Lauren Hoines, the Territory Representative for Champion Petfoods in the Prairies. For those of you non-Canadians, that means she is the brand rep for the Prairie provinces of Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta.
Champion Petfoods are the makers of ACANA and ORIJEN Pet Foods. They have been crafting premium food for cats and dogs since 1985. Their foods are made for Pet Lovers, by Pet Lovers, so you know your furry family member is getting the very best.
Champion sources the finest WholePrey ingredients selected from carefully curated suppliers whom they know and trust. Their foods are crafted by passionate nutrition and health experts in world class kitchens, and as Pet Lovers themselves, they strive to provide the highest quality and safety in every product they make.
Learn:
- What Champion produced before it made pet food
- How Acana got its name
- Who the experts are behind the formulas
- About the differences between Acana and Orijen
- How DCM "discussions" affected Champion
- About a new, exciting product coming from Champion in the near future
UPDATE: The cat cans mentioned in this episode did not end up being approved by our Tail Blazers head office and will not be sold in our stores.
