the violent conflict in Israel and Gaza has overshadowed sports events globally, and in the Bundesliga specifically, where two players got in trouble for social media posts.
Of course, there were games played as well, with Union deep in crisis after another loss, Dortmund looking not good but successful in 2023 and a Rheinderby that showed that both Köln and Mönchengladbach will have nothing to do with the top half of the table this season. Last but not least, lowly Augsburg came back from 2-0 at newly promoted Heidenheim to win 5-2 in new manager Jess Thorup's debut.
