Do you ever sit in church and look up at the cross and wonder - how did that whole thing work? Theologians have developed theories, called atonement theories, for a thousand years. On this episode, we look at probably the most recent one, developed by Rene Girard, called Mimetic Theory. Remember - theories are simply theories. There is no scripture that has ever told us exactly how atonement works. It's part of the beautiful mystery that we have in Jesus. But, these theories can lead us into a phenomenal place of reverence as we try to understand what Jesus did.
