Description

Well!  My goodness, finally!  I am very happy to be joined by Prof. Karen Liftin from the University of Washington.  I say finally, because I have been trying to book Dr. Litfin since last spring.  She had a crazy busy schedule and then, well I moved to Idaho for six weeks and it didn't happen.  So, she is a very welcome guest and I am excited to talk to her about her book EcoVillages - Lessons for Sustainable Community.  I think is is a guide book for people getting back in touch with real reality.  We are supposed to live together in my humble opinion.  The story of separation is over, basically we can ask ourselves 'how is is working for you?" It really didn't for my life and living in an ecovillage is a dream for me.  They are gaining in popularity and the ones that Karen visited are templelates for how to do this.  She covers a variety of styles to give us an example that there is no one way or right way to do this.  In fact, the area, the people the objectives of the community all play an important role in how the village comes together.  We need this training, we need to come back to the earth to feed and shelter us.  Moving with the energies of the earth and the people who live on her, instead of fighting against nature and eachother.

In this inspiring and insightful book, Karen Litfin shares her unique experience of these experiments in sustainable living through four broad windows - ecology, economics, community, and consciousness - or E2C2.

Karen T. Litfin is Associate Professor of Political Science at the University of Washington.  To learn more, visit the book's accompanying website at www.ecovillagebook.com
