Description

When you've woken up in a strange new world, it helps to have a few anchor points.

This is Morning Prayer from the Church of England. It's often used first thing in the Morning and I usually pray Morning Prayer with a few others at St Anne's Church at 8.30am. It includes some famous well known prayers like The Lord's Prayer and The Benedictus (The prayer spoken by Zachariah, John the Baptist's father), a psalm, an Old Testament reading, a New Testament reading and some space for your own prayers for those you love and the world God loves.

You can find all the words for today's morning prayer at the Church of England website https://www.churchofengland.org/prayer-and-worship/join-us-in-daily-prayer/morning-prayer-contemporary-tuesday-17-march-2020

I accidentally missed out the collect - prayer for the day (whoops) - so here it is:

Almighty God,

who in your providence chose your servant Patrick

to be the apostle of the Irish people:

keep alive in us the fire of the faith he kindled

and strengthen us in our pilgrimage

      towards the light of everlasting life;

through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,

who is alive and reigns with you,

in the unity of the Holy Spirit,

one God, now and for ever.

All Amen.
