1. Read closely Deuteronomy 7:7–8, Ephesians 1:4, and 1 Thessalonians 1:4–5. What do these scriptures have in common?


2. What are your associations with the word, 'repentance'? What difference does it make that Jesus issues this call from Galilee (the north of Israel), not Jerusalem?


3. Are there — if you're honest — "words of Jesus" (see Mark 8:38 ) of which you are ashamed?
