Carl Little, Director of Player Development at North Carolina Central University, is with me after he put out a call on social media for alumni to send $240 each to the athletic departments of their respective alma maters. 

Those of us who grew up watching A Different World or had a family member attend an HBCU always had a special place in our hearts for Historically Black Colleges and Universities. They welcomed us with open arms when predominately white schools weren't so kind unless you could catch a football or dunk a basketball. For all of the prestige of Howard, Spelman, Hampton, and others, HBCU's have always struggled with generating the same kind of income as their counterparts.
