Description

New Jerseys corrections ombudsman report reveals 336 deaths in state prisons from 2018 to 2024, with most being natural causes. However, unnatural deaths, such as overdoses, suicides, and homicides, demand attention. Overdoses led the unnatural deaths, mostly at Northern State Prison and New Jersey State Prison. Thirteen inmates died by suicide, with many in disciplinary housing units. Nine of the deceased were under 25, eight of them from unnatural causes. Deaths spiked in 2020 due to the pandemic. The corrections department offers mental health care and has added steps to curb drugs. The ombudsman hopes the report sparks transparency and scrutiny, while the ACLU supports the data for improving conditions. Checkout Solipillow.com
