The sterile white walls of the hospital waiting room seemed to close in on Ned Hillsdale as he sat slumped in his chair, his eyes heavy with exhaustion and his mind clouded with worry. It had been hours since he had arrived at the hospital, hours of waiting and pacing and praying for news of Stacy's condition. And yet, with each passing moment, the weight of uncertainty seemed to grow heavier, threatening to crush him beneath its suffocating grip.
