Nurturing Your Mental Health: Wisdom for Staying Connected to God, Yourself & Others
Description
Welcome to season two of the Joy Prescription podcast, where we are interviewing women in the fields of ministry and medicine. Our goal is to draw out the wisdom in our collective life stories so that we can learn and grow together.
On today's podcast, we welcome special guest, Kim Fish, a licensed clinical social worker & licensed mental health counselor. Kim has specialized in working with women and teens on issues such as relationship difficulties, depression, anxiety, boundaries, self-worth and childhood trauma. She has been trained in play therapy and provides family counseling and play therapy with children, with an emphasis on attachment and adoption. She has been married to Steve for 33 years and has two young adult daughters. Kim is passionate about helping people live a connected life-to God, themselves, and others-and believes that connecting relationally brings an increased satisfaction in life.
In this episode, Kim joyfully shares her perspective, insight, and wisdom on important topics around mental health. Some of the questions we field Kim include:
- How do you differentiate stress and anxiety?
- How do you balance your many roles and still stay authentically connected to God, yourself & others?
- How do you help clients work through heavy emotions, like unforgiveness or regret?
Our conversation also includes discussion around:
- The important role community plays in the healing process
- The mind-body connection and the polyvagal theory
- Advice for those seeking out counseling for the first time
If you're ready to glean wisdom for nurturing your mental health, we invite you to tune in & join the conversation!
