Old Coping Skills, Treasure or Trash?

Old wounds, especially prolonged childhood trauma, experience with a major disaster, and war, leave wounds that can take a lifetime (or more) to heal. Simply surviving a horrible situation requires that one learn specialized skills called coping mechanisms A problem can occur when old coping mechanisms no longer serve us in a new situation. Through prayer and therapy we may seek healing, but are we willing to take the next step toward wholeness?
