Tobile has honor among the white men in the army after his years serving as a scout. When he is too old to serve any longer, his compadre's write him a letter of introduction to help him get more work as a scout, helping cattlemen guide their steers to Dodge City. Unfortunately, Tobile asks the wrong people this time for work, and the two white men play a cruel practical joke on him, which leads to him to vow to kill the men.
