Miriam grew up in Lima, Peru, relating that it was much calmer there than many American cities, with family the focus of activity. She's board certified in three areas, including geriatrics and is authentic and personable in sharing her experience.

Her reflection of life in Peru is quite inviting for the imagination of many. She moves into how the perspective of growing up and watching her parents, from childhood to becoming a caretaker, inspired her journey into geriatrics.

Ever feel like you're in a bubble in your family environment? Miriam shares hers and how it shaped her inner life amongst a variety of cultures within the community. She acknowledges the bubble burst when she went to medical school and got immersed in the challenges of overcoming cultural shock. Diversity and inclusion became a new awareness that she's kept present and in mind since.

The observations and reflections Miriam shares present a wonderful opportunity to learn how others might perceive reality and navigate their way through it effectively. Our conversation brings out the awareness of empathic resonance with choices and decisions across the spectrum of living life through personal experience of going beyond her expectations, immigrating to America as well.

Speaking of, she shares that her social environment was limited, being focused on work didn't really give her the time to develop friends. Raising a family was a priority, too, and perhaps you might recognize the dilemmas faced as an immigrant that Miriam shares, too.
